Corona virus changes

     Corona virus has conquered our lives for real! Quarantine measures have left many streets, parks, and shopping centers essentially deserted in cities of Cyprus. Everyone is afraid, and no one is allowed to get out of their houses. One of the main commercial streets of the capital, Ledra Street, is now silent.

     Ledra Street is a major shopping thoroughfare in central Nicosia. There is a big variety of shops, ranging from department stores selling luxury goods to small specialty shops selling art and crafts. Apart from that, restaurants and cafes are filled with groups of people having fun. One of the main characteristics of the street are the wondering musicians offering the visitors a smile with their melodies. Ledra Street is a famous destination for families with young children, too. It 's a place where children can run up and down without concerning the traffic, since the street is only for pedestrians.

     The reality today is different from the one already described. The once noisiest and busiest street of the city is now abandoned. All the shops, the restaurants and the cafes are closed down. The smell of the fresh-grounded coffee does not exist anymore. Everything is switched off, life is switched off from the center of Nicosia. No more tourists are visiting and taking pictures of the neoclassical buildings. No more kids are having fun at the fairground eating ice-cream. Unfortunately, all the shop-owners are left without a job and income, because no one is allowed to visit their shops. Corona virus set an end to everyone's joy of life.

    Well, all these were part of scenarios at the cinema, until now. We feel like living in a thriller not knowing what will come next. Shutting down our lives like Ledra Street was a strong wake up call for all the world. Lessons should be learned and actions should be made by each one of us in order to switch on everything that really matters.
